At the end of the project, after eating for $2/day for a period, it is time to reflect on the experience. Many things are likely to have crossed your mind as you changed your eating habits, things about the way others live, things about your own life and its organization, things about how we prioritize. It is important to take time to pause and let those things work in your mind and in your heart.
To get you started, try sitting with these questions during some quiet time in the first days of eating for $2/day and after you stop.
Did you make pledges before you began? What were they?
How much do you usually spend per person for food?
Did you come close to spending $2/day during your week-long experience? How did you feel about this?
Did you feel hungry?
Did you feel focused on food? If so, in what ways?
How did the context of your meals affect you?
Did you notice others and their food?
Did you look at events where food was present differently during your week’s experience?
Did you explain what you were doing to others during the week? How did that feel?
Did you pay attention to other kinds of consumption in your life?
What sorts of actions are you considering after this week’s experience?
